My Story

The Power of Hope & the Power of Faith

Ruby's Rambles pentecostal homeschool power of faith power of hope with faith with hope

I’m an introvert, although I never realized just HOW introverted I was until after I got married and had kids. In my single life I had time for introspection, and rambles on the mountainside. I also had plenty of time for studying my Bible and journaling, and every now and then I would post my thoughts in an online forum. It was always a bit startling to me when someone would comment on what a good writer I was, and how my posts made them think. Because mostly, well, mostly my writing was therapy. A way for me to process information and get my thoughts out of my head and into some sort of order.

Then I got married and became a bonus mom on the same day. Within six years we had added three more kids to the family, faced significant trauma, and Introvert Time was a thing of the past. I will spare you the details (at least for now), and just say that my life was chaos.

I desperately needed healing – of more than one kind.

But in the midst of the chaos, I learned two important things.

The power of hope and the power of faith.

The power of hope

In the love from my friends, who shared their own stories, and how they survived.

I have long recognized the power of other people’s stories to help us see our own lives in new ways.

Jame Pauley

Going somewhere means leaving somewhere. Choosing something means choosing against other things. Gaining something means losing something else. And between the old and new–the ‘was’ and the ‘not yet’–there exists only one thing: a very frightening journey called faith.

The power of faith

Come for a ramble with me, friend.

Let’s chat about the ways we’ve seen God’s faithfulness.

Let’s cry together, let’s laugh together, let’s share the load so it’s lighter for both of us for a while.

We’re going to make it. Together.

With hope. With faith.
